“When we first started out, the industry was new to everyone,” says Balducci. “The needs at the time were basically simple verbal conversations via cell phone. Over time, phones have become much more than just verbal communication. Smartphone owners now constantly communicate and consume data, video, and other content, and we are here to help wireless companies meet those increasing demands.”

Building upon their motto, “The connection starts here,” Ramapo goes above and beyond to serve its clients, with Balducci bringing more than 25 years of experience in the field. The company provides structural installation of telecommunications facilities, from cell phone towers to fiber optics, as well as management of those systems. It’s also involved in equipment installation and project management, which involves daily scheduling, open client communication, and finding solutions for issues that may arise—from project launch through completion. Expanding the Team 

As clients’ needs have shifted and grown, the Ramapo team has as well. Currently, the company employs about 60 people—a dramatic increase compared to just a few years ago. With the company’s main office based in South Hackensack, New Jersey, they’ve opened another office in Baltimore to serve the Mid-Atlantic market—including Washington, D.C. and parts of Virginia. This new Baltimore office, as well as expanding client needs, has required the company to reassess and restructure its management teams. Internal and external hiring has increased, management structure has become more fine tuned, and the organization has redistributed workload. 

At the same time, Ramapo has remained loyal to its employees, contractors, and other business partners, all of whom support the company structure when the amount of work increases. With some vendor relationships exceeding 20 years, the company is dedicated to preserving its mutually beneficial liaisons.

As the company moves forward, Balducci and his team are ready for the future. On one hand, Balducci looks forward to seeing his many new hires and tenured employees offer a fresh perspective as they move up in the company. On the other, he’s excited for the challenges ahead, hoping that the company continues to reinvent itself as technology changes. In fact, even now they’re considering another satellite office on the East Coast as the market potential for wireless technology rapidly expands with 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT) already upon us.

Meet Joseph Balducci, President of Ramapo Communication Corp.

After graduating from Rutgers University School of Engineering with a degree in civil engineering in 1988, Balducci spent several years working for construction companies in Rockland and Westchester counties, as well as New Jersey. He decided to embark on his own path in 1996 when he opened Cross-State Construction Corp., a telecommunications company based in Suffern, New York. At that time, major network carriers were starting to gain ground as the cell phone boom began. Balducci was there from the beginning.

Since founding Ramapo Communication Corp. in 2004, Balducci has gone on to significantly expand his team and open another office that serves the Mid-Atlantic market. Balducci is also a licensed general contractor in several states along the East Coast, from Florida to Connecticut.

“My father, who was not a businessman, said you had to be lucky to succeed in business,” says Balducci. “Sometimes I think I was lucky to be at the right place at the right time, but I also think that a person can’t be lucky for 20 years straight. I have been at the right place at the right time, but I have also recognized opportunities and how to take advantage of those opportunities in the right way.”
