3D Printing Underway at the CIA

July 15, 2015

The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park is bringing new dimensions to its curriculum—a 3D printing partnership. The alliance, an initiative from 3D Systems that is supported by the Hudson Valley Economic Development Center, enables faculty and students to “explore the intersection of 3D printed food and artisan culinary methods,” according to a press release.

These printers can make sugar shells, ceramic bakeware, and a variety of sugar and candy-based objects.

The partnership also opens the door for CIA students to participate in learning programs at 3D System’s Los Angeles-based The Sugar Lab, a 3D printing culinary lab.
